February 2019: OHI Comments on the Growth Plan – OHI to ERO 013-4504 Feb 22
February 2015 – February 2019 – Please bear with us: we foolishly posted numerous submissions to our Blog. We will be moving them back here over the next few months, as time permits.
2012 – 2014
The OHI focused a lot of our activities in this period on the Great Lakes Strategy, the Great Lakes Protection Act, and a concept paper entitled The Importance of Headwaters to Watershed Health – and why Ontario needs indicators of headwater health in watershed monitoring and reporting. The GLPA was proposed 3 times before finally passing the legislature in 2015, so our more recent and germane comments can be seen in the Blog. The concept paper on Headwater Indicators can be found in the Research section of the website, was the subject of a presentation at the November 2014 Latournell Conservation Symposium, and is undergoing significant revisions for publication in 2016.
November 22, 2012 – Final Comments on the PPS: Efforts to revamp the 2005 Provincial Policy Statement were launched in 2010, and ran almost five years. Over that period, the OHI sat on an informal steering committee for an effort called Planning for Sustainability: A PPS Collaborative. Over 40 organizations including the OHI signed a comprehensive submission from the Collaborative, and you can read our stand-alone submission at OHI for PPS Nov 22 2012.
July 31, 2012 – Biodiversity: It’s in Our Nature: The OHI expressed its appreciation for the plan and offered a few recommendations on the province’s implementation plan for its biodiversity strategy. See OHI Biodiversity Sub July 31 2012.
