Promoting Watershed Security in Ontario:

ecological integrity, social wellbeing, and economic vitality

Pursuing the implementation of recommendations stemming from the review of land use planning in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH), the Province asked for comments regarding draft “criteria, methods, and mapping” to better protect natural heritage in the GGH. Clearly, there is momentum to embrace new tools such as GIS to increase accuracy while reducing costs and potential errors. There are also questions about how public engagement and map “refinements” by local agencies doing regional mapping will occur, and where and how errors and appeals might be handled.
